Bishkek (TCA) - On May 25, the National Museum in Bishkek hosted the 2nd Bishkek International Tourist Fair (BITF). The Kyrgyz event is a follow-up to a series of events organized in Moscow and Kazakhstan.
Travel agencies from all over Kyrgyzstan, as well as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, South Korea and Turkey were represented at this year`s fair.
At the fair visitors snapped up colorful brochures, guides and maps of Kyrgyzstan.
For a while, the entrance hall of the museum turned into the Kyrgyz Aiyly ethnic village, with concerts and costume shows.
The Ordo-Sakhno folk group also performed on the Temir-Komus, an ancient Kyrgyz instrument invented more than 2,000 years ago.
Altogether, Kyrgyzstan has over 300 active travel bureaus and 25, 800 business involved in the tourism industry.
Work is currently underway to establish Kyrgyz tourism offices in key markets such as Kazakhstan, the Urals, Siberia and Uzbekistan.
